Map Help
You are using the GIS technology ArcIMS, developed by ESRI.
Each map that you see is a map data layer.

To view the list of all data layers, click the Layer-List/Legend Toggle. This button is the uppermost left on the toolbar.
To view a different data layer, click the checkbox nextto the name of the data layer you wish to view. Then click the "RefreshMap" button, which is underneath the list of map layers.
The listing of layers is hierarchical. If you want to see a map layer midway down the list, you must uncheck all of the layers above it.
One layer is the "Active Layer". You will see a radio buttonthat is selected. To change the active layer, select a different radiobutton. Note that this does not automatically make this layer visible.
What is the significance of the "Active Layer"? You may perform queries only on the active layer.
Types of queries
- Find: This is a string, or character-based query. For example,click the Find button(binoculars), and search on the word "Amur". Thiswill return all occurrances of the word "Amur" within the active layer.
- Select by rectangle, line or polygon: You may click either of these icons to return database records within a specific shape.
- Identify: the "I" icon will return information about a specific feature on which your mouse has clicked.
- Data query: you may build a database query to select specific tabular data.
You will choose a field to select, such as square kilometers. Thenyou will pick an operator, like greater than, and then you may enter anumber amount.
Click "Add to Query String", then "Execute".
